Maternal-Fetal Medicine

This is a joint fellowship between Wayne State University, the Detroit Medical Center, and the Perinatology Research Branch of NICHD, NIH. There are 7 fellows. The program has a strong academic emphasis and is organized to train leaders in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. The clinical emphasis is on the management of High-Risk pregnancies, Genetics, and Ultrasound. A top priority of this fellowship program is to train fellows in clinical and basic research methodology. The MFM Division has 13 full-time MFM faculty and several PhDs. The faculty is nationally and internationally known for their respective areas of expertise.

We have laboratories focusing on radioimmunoassay, cytogenetics, immunology, and molecular biology, and state of the art animal facilities. We are one of the 14 centers for the MFMU Network, supported by the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development.
